Over the past few weeks I have made quite a few mistakes. Whether there were related to my website, my mail outs or on a more personal level, I realised there were quite a few! Initially I started to get angry at myself. After all, no one is harder on me, then me. But then I realised that maybe there was a reason for all the mistakes so I asked myself, what advice would I give someone else that was experiencing something similar?
What’s first?
Firstly, I would tell them to take some time out. Mistakes can happen when we are tired and overwhelmed. Get away from technology and spend some time in quiet reflection. Tune in and see what is happening inside.
So I did. I realised that I was trying to do too much and was putting too much pressure on myself to get everything done.
Ok, so now what?
Well I would advise someone else to forgive themselves for the past mistakes.
Mmmm…. Can I really forgive myself? Can I take on my own advice? After realising that I am only human and I am trying to do quite a bit, I was able to. I accepted that it’s ok to make mistakes and it’s OK to take time out. So I forgave myself.
And lastly, I did take time out. I had a nice warm bath with some of my favourite essential oils and read a good book!
So next time you find yourself making lots of mistakes follow these steps:
- Take some time out. Get away from technology and maybe spend some time alone. Listen to what your heart is telling you. Are you doing too much? Are you surrounded by negative influences, are you sleeping well? Is there anything different that has come into your life that you need to evaluate?
- Next forgive yourself for your mistakes and if need be apologise to whoever may have been affected by your mistake.
- Do something for yourself. Something that is self-nurturing. Have a bath, go to bed early or spend half the day reading something you love. Whatever it is, know that you deserve some time out and actually do it!
Life is always teaching us lessons and I am more than aware that I have so much to learn. But for me, that’s part of the fun of life. Learning and continually growing. After all, if it wasn’t, life would be pretty boring!
Thank you for reading and until next time remember, happiness starts with a smile! ☺
